Keeping the family entertained

Clearly , living and working in a Guesthouse, helps us to sample and hear first account from Guests all the activities on offer around Jakarta. This allows us to recommend places for you to visit and keep the family entertained and happy.

The location itself, being situated in the capital of Indonesia, provides an endless and array of activities that will surely keep everybody moving, from young to old. Jakarta is a huge metropolis that never seems to sleep. With a population well over 10 million, Jakarta is a cluster of multiple neighbourhoods that spread from the city centre to neighbouring provinces. Jakarta might be overwhelming and some of its dodgiest alleys might be intimidating to most travellers. But rest assure, the Guesthouse is situated in a housing neighbourhood ( but still near to a major road - Abdullah Syafe'i) and not in an alley.

Tebet train station or Stasiun Tebet is just a quick 10 minute walk from the Guesthouse. The station has two platforms and two railways. Platform 1 is the commuter line that connects to neighbouring cities of Bogor and Depok. Platform 2 is the commuter line that connects to Manggarai/Sudirman/ Kota Tua. If you don't wish to travel by train, the Guesthouse is near to the main road of Abdullah Syafe'i which makes it easier to find alternative transportation like taxis, motorcycle taxis, mini buses ('angkot'), buses, and three-wheelers ('bajaj').

If you don't have time to explore the many Indonesian Islands, then visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah which offers a bird's eye view of Indonesia. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or popularly known as TMII is just a quick 20 minute drive from the Guesthouse. TMII offers visitors a glimpse of the large variety of architecture of the full- scale traditional houses from Indonesia's 34 provinces, showcasing Indonesia's great diversity in cultures and traditions. There is also an Orchid Garden, a Jasmine Garden, a Medicinal Herbs Garden, a Birdpark, Aquarium, and the Fauna Museum. The latest addition to TMII is the Hakka Indonesia Museum , which highlights the arrival of ethnic Chinese to the Indonesian islands.

Jakarta pampers its residents and visitors alike with over eighty air-conditioned malls scattered throughout the city. The nearest mall to the Guesthouse is Kota Kasablanka which is packed on weekends. Further down from Kota Kasablanka are the many malls situated in the Casablanca business area- Kuningan City, Lotte Mall, Ambassador Mall ( famous for bargain lovers). Jakarta also houses a number of speciality markets like Jakarta Gems Centre in Rawabening and Klender Furniture Market.

Jakarta is indeed a city that never sleeps. There are endless of activities that will surely keep everybody in the family entertained. We will reserve other attractions that are easily accessible from the Guesthouse in a later blog.
